Fact Sheet

EMS Defense & Space Systems (D&SS) Division enables many of today’s most advanced military and commercial space applications. EMS microwave systems serve the battlespace in communications, surveillance, precision strike and electronic warfare. Its low-observable, compact, and high-performance RF systems work across all warfighter platforms -- from space, air, ground and sea, to the soldier traveling on foot. D&SS also provides antenna capabilities for next-generation commercial satellites for entertainment and Internet connectivity. D&SS’s customers include the world’s best defense and space companies.

EMS hardware supports the industry's most advanced surveillance, tracking, electronic counter-measure and secure communications capabilities.

Solutions At-A-Glance

EMS Technologies provides electronic equipment for military and commercial communications systems and a wide range of other defense applications. EMS pioneered the use of ferrite technology in advanced RF microwave and millimeter wave subsystems, has developed leading edge antenna technologies for numerous advanced applications and has a world class Hybrid and MIC facility that has MIL-PRF-38534 QML Class H and K certifications. The U.S. Department of Defense relies on EMS for highly reliable, rapidly developed, innovative solutions to meet radar, communications and electronic warfare challenges.

EMS has extensive background in ferrite subsystems, airborne radar, antenna systems, RF countermeasures, and phased arrays. We develop cutting-edge electronics subsystems for applications from ECM to airborne ISR to high bandwidth mobile communications to missile seekers. Our core competencies include:

  • Advanced Antennas and Antenna systems, including: slot arrays, active and passive phased arrays, switched horn systems, geodesic cone phased arrays and shaped reflectors, as well as various lens configurations (Constant K, Luneberg, etc.)
  • High-performance Ferrite Switches and Phase Shifters
  • Ferrite Beam-forming Systems, Switch Networks and Autotrack Modulators
  • Phased Arrays
  • Adaptive Nulling Techniques
  • SATCOM-on-the-Move Antenna Subsystems
  • Positioning Systems
  • MIC Assemblies

Customer Base

Major systems prime contractors including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon rely on EMS to provide critical components for radar, secure communications and electronic-warfare systems. Besides these Tier 1 customers, EMS also provides solutions to BAE Systems, Harris and L3, among others.
