Sessions Cover Growing Demand for In-flight Connectivity, Military Technical Requirements for Comms-on-the-Move, Next-generation Satellite Solutions
ATLANTA – March 12, 2010 – EMS Technologies, Inc. is expanding its presence this year at the Satellite 2010 and the MSUA-7 Conference and Exhibition (focused on the MSS market), opening next week in National Harbor, Md. The mobile connectivity company is participating in three cutting-edge industry panels. Both conferences are expected to draw more than 9,300 satellite professionals from more than 70 countries, and will be held concurrently at the Gaylord National Convention Center.
On Monday, March 15, William Hafner, principal engineer, EMS Defense & Space, will participate in an engineering-led discussion on COTM: Meeting Military Technical Requirements. Today, more than 80 percent of military capacity demand is for Ku-band, according to satellite and wireless industry analyst firm NSR, and the U.S. government is continuing to increase its requirement for secured and non-secured communications. Hafner provides technical leadership for EMS’s Ku-band airborne Satcom antenna systems and supports strategic business development initiatives for the company’s Satcom antenna architecture.
On Tuesday, March 16, Gary Hebb, VP Innovation and Strategy at EMS, will discuss trends in in-flight voice and data connectivity during an industry panel moderated by Mary Kirby, senior editor, Flight Global. The company’s new EMS Aviation division now offers the industry’s most robust connectivity portfolio that makes aero connectivity possible, supplying equipment to all the key players in the in-flight connectivity market. Hebb, a 25-year industry veteran, leads cross-division initiatives to build synergies within EMS’s businesses, including creating new products from its combined technology base, in support of EMS’s growth strategy.
Steve Edgett, VP Business Development and Strategy, EMS Global Tracking, a global telematics and force tracking solutions leader, will round out the speaking slate on Wednesday, March 17. He will join Iridium Communications and Globalstar on a panel exploring the next generation of satellite tracking solutions. Edgett is the company’s top expert on Search and Rescue technology, and will be discussing EMS’s new personal tracker solution at the conference.
